Green Rose celebrates the flavours of the tropics with its cheerful, just-back-from-Bali demeanour. One of our favourite green teas, Green Rose has been a part of the T2 family from the beginning. There's a lot to appreciate about this drink, what with all the mouthwatering fruit flavours and the beautiful rose petals.
Sencha green tea is the foundation for this drink; we then add ripe flavours like mango, papaya and currants on top. Papaya lends zest and juiciness to the dish, while mango provides sweetness. The currants serve to sweeten the dish without the need of additional sugar. This is the most enticing green we've ever made, thanks to the addition of rose and blue cornflower petals.
The richness of the flavours in Green Tea may put off some people, therefore we suggest Green Rose to anybody interested in trying it but not sold on the more savoury, "bitter" flavour profile. Green Rose's fruity and flowery tones are soft and easy to adore, with a faint green tea undertone providing a delightful beginning.
To avoid bitterness in any green tea, make sure it's properly brewed. Using the same technique of pouring hot water over the leaves while brewing black tea is a frequent blunder. Green tea must be scalded much more often than black tea to create a bitter and unpleasant cup. As an alternative, we'll strive for a temperature of 80°C. But do not be alarmed; you do not need a degree in calculus to understand this. Stir the tea leaves into a cup half-filled with hot water. The bitterness is tamed, while the fruity flavours are amplified.
