Caffewerks is a Seattle-based business that manufactures components, equipment, and accessories for the coffee industry. Initially, the company operated as a consulting, prototyping, and development firm, but it has now expanded its operations to include product development and marketing. Caffewerks' employees have a well-documented passion for coffee and have together worked in the industry for more than two decades.
Caffewerks provides preventative maintenance packages and replacement parts kits for espresso coffee machines such as the Slayer, Mavam, Synesso, and La Marzocco. They may also be used by other commercial and household coffee machine makers that have adopted their standardised model E61 Groupheads. In the E61 Group-screens from Caffewerks, there is a 200-micron-thick etched stainless steel membrane that has been built in. In addition to ensuring that your coffee is distributed evenly, the screen prevents coffee grounds from piling up on the back of the screen. It is possible to maintain a tighter seal due to the one-piece design of the screen.
The E61 type gasket that comes with it is composed of a brightly coloured silicone that matches the rest of the package. The visibility is improved, and the consistency of the silicone makes it easier to connect the portafilter to the silicone compound. Because of the high heat resistance of silicone and the fact that espresso machine groups generate a significant amount of heat, these gaskets last much longer than ordinary rubber gaskets.
Maintenance kits are available from Caffeworks, but individual gaskets, screens, and screws for Machine groups are also manufactured by the company. Because of this, new barista-specific equipment such as coffee tampers and portafilters with integrated lights have been created.
